Logline:

A journey of an old lady on the train to another world after her death 

Summary:

An old lady rides on the train after her death. The train travels through the pieces of the lady’s past memories, and the lady’s emotion fluctuates by watching the memories. When she sees her husband in her memories, she becomes really happy and starts to enjoy the journey. At the end, she tries to escape the train when she sees her husband die. However, she stops when hears the echo of his last words saying they will meet again in another world. The train arrives and her husband welcomes her at the station.

Concept:

The whole animation will be mainly focused on the environment or the significant object in the old lady’s memories. Most of the scenes will be in 1st person perspective or 3rd person perspective to minimize the scenes where the characters appear. When her husband appears, he will be in a silhouette. 

Characters:

1. Old lady

Age: 60 - 70 

She has been missing her husband for a very long time after he passed away before her. She is very confused and nervous in the beginning of the journey because she isn't aware that she is dead. She will be wearing a long skirt with a shawl on her shoulder. 

2. Train conductor

Message:

This animation conveys a message of accepting our destiny that there is always an end. At the end of my film, I aim my audience to feel empathy from how she moves on from her past memories and finally accept her death. And also a touching feeling when she meets her husband again at the end. 

Conflicts and Catalyst:

This animation shows how an old lady who doesn’t realize her death eventually accepts her destiny and reunites with her dead husband. In the beginning, she is very nervous and confused when she gets on the train. At this stage, her train ticket is empty. However, the voice of her dead husband saying they will meet again changed her to accept her death. After changing, her ticket goes back to normal and the train arrives at her destination too. The symbol of the train ticket helps the audience to understand the change of the old lady’s attitude towards her death and this journey to another world.
